I found out this afternoon that my cousin and his girlfriend are expecting a child. For those who don't know (i.e., everyone else reading this), the girlfriend has the unusual name of "Genesis."
Now, I can only speak for myself, but if I were named "Genesis," an unusual name not usually considered a name, I would go out of my way to make sure that my child had an extra-normal (read: boring) name as compensation.
And, while it makes perfect logical sense, I definitely wouldn't have chosen their pick, "Exodus."
What frightens me is that there are people in the world who not only haven't outgrown naming their Final Fantasy party members "CRAP," "DAMN," "SHIT," and "FUCK," but have somehow managed to superimpose this fascination with choosing names only to amuse themselves onto another human being. Of course, people name their children for money, after brands, or to make a point, but I can see no other reason beyond personal amusement that one would name a child Audio Science, Moxie CrimeFighter, or Sephiroth.
Let's hope this child grows up to have the common sense not to name his firstborn "Leviticus."
